Laura has been my friend since we were five years old, and she's like a sister to me. Most of our memories were made in Colombia, where we're both from. Though I moved to the USA, we've remained close, trying to see each other once or twice a year despite the distance. Now, my sister-friend needs help more than ever, and I am determined to support her.
Laura is 42 years old and was married just a year ago, with many plans for the future. Eight months ago, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she has undergone several surgeries to remove compromised organs. Unfortunately, the cancer has metastasized to her intestines, and she is currently undergoing chemotherapy. While her health insurance covers the chemotherapy, it does not cover the medication needed post-treatment, which costs approximately $1,200 per dose. She still requires four more treatments, and we remain hopeful that this course will be the last.
Laura and her family are struggling to afford these necessary medications. Therefore, I've decided to reach out and see if we can make this journey a bit less stressful for her. Any support you can provide will be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much to everyone who wishes to help Laura during this difficult time.
