Help Launch Tomas High School's Theatre Program!

Hi everyone. My name is Nick Farco and I am currently a professional theatre director, instructor, and an actor in the greater Houston area. This will be my 10th year in education here in Texas and I am grateful for the upcoming opportunity to be establishing a theatre program at a brand new high school in Lamar Consolidated ISD called Tomas High School.

General contractors handle all the big stuff and I can request certain items to be purchased with bond funds, but I will not receive any actual budget until September 1. School will start almost a month before that and I am tasked with moving everything in and getting things started during the month of July. I do not receive any activity account startup funds for an inventory bar code system with scanner and software for all department inventory truck transportation rental to move everything, a whole bunch of supplies like detergent, sink soap, cleaning supplies, materials for custom stair units for the auditorium areas for safety, opening student event and orientation supplies and various storage materials that can't be ordered in advance because I am not permitted in the building until a certain point and can't see or measure for many specifics. It's also for an initial branding purchase just in case we don't meet minimums in some categories with the company with the initial offering. Finally, the start up costs for an independent Booster Club with official 501c3 not-for-profit status will be formed which is instrumental to accomplishing the many goals an educational arts organization has every season. In some cases, I won't know exactly what is needed until I'm in there and can see the many incidental items that will be necessary to start off the 2025-26 year strong and prepared to hit the ground running with an entirely new group of young high school students.

I am reaching out to my greater community and network in the hopes that some of you might have the ability to contribute any amount to get things started and on the right track toward building something aimed at resetting the bar for local high school theatre education and production. No amount is insignificant, and even if you are unable to support this endeavor, I really appreciate you taking the time to view this, and please know that I am thankful for all the amazing people that I have been fortunate enough to meet on the path of living an artistic life. Expression, connection, and inclusivity are only a few of the very important things that the performing arts can foster in our society and the kids of this generation won't learn their importance without guidance and passionate support. In Theatre - We sit together in the dark so we can try to learn to understand one another in the light. The most important thing in my opinion is to keep trying and never ever give up.
