You may remember me as Jaali, the creative force behind Jaali's Dollies and The King Crow Studio. Today, I'm excited to introduce myself as Theo, the curator, and tour guide of Whimsyland: Home of The Teddy Garden—a project that feels like a comforting bear hug (pun intended ).
As a black, queer artist, my personal identity and artistic style have evolved over the years, shaping the trajectory of my creative journey.
The Teddy Garden (<--- link to the website!) is the culmination of this evolution, and I'm eager to share its magic with the world.
Now, I'm reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for support. 2024 is the year of shows, and I'm ready to take Whimsyland and The Teddy Garden on the road. I've applied to conventions across the country(and even one in the UK!) and I'm thrilled to share that I've already been accepted twice (as of 2/2/2024).
But to turn these dreams into reality, I need your help. The funds raised through this campaign will be pivotal in bringing Whimsyland to life and establishing The Teddy Garden's presence. Here's a detailed breakdown of where your contributions will go:
- Convention/Art Fair Expenses: Covering travel costs, booth fees, and promotional materials for the shows I'll be attending throughout 2024.
- Online Presence: Building and maintaining a professional website and online shop to reach a broader audience and connect with new friends and customers.
- Physical Storefront: Working towards the goal of possibly opening a physical storefront by the end of 2024/beginning of 2025 and creating a permanent home for The Teddy Garden.
