“Beyond the Lights: Discovering Sammy Davis Jr.” is a tribute show honoring his 100th birthday, blending live jazz, storytelling and Sammy’s legacy of resilience, brilliance and intersectionality (as a Black, Jewish, barrier breaking icon).

This year, Valerie A. Higgs and I are taking the celebration on the road—bringing it to Berlin, London, Philadelphia and beyond.
