Hello everyone,
With heavy hearts, we continue to mourn the tragic loss of my brother, Jermaine Martinez Green, who was taken from us far too soon. On September 12, 2021, Jermaine was killed in New Orleans, Louisiana. The circumstances surrounding his death remain deeply troubling. Although there was clear evidence indicating that his death was a homicide—including the fact that Jermaine was shot twice, that a struggle occurred, and that another person was present in the apartment—his death was ultimately ruled a suicide. To this day, no arrest has been made.
Nearly four years later, our family is still grieving the loss of someone who brought so much light, love, and purpose into this world. At the same time, we continue to fight tirelessly for justice for Jermaine. No family should have to endure this kind of pain, uncertainty, or silence.
To honor Jermaine’s life and ensure his legacy lives on, we have established The Jermaine Martinez Green Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for families impacted by gun violence. As we build this foundation from the ground up, we are committed to creating meaningful community programs that promote healing, awareness, and change—so that other families do not have to walk this painful road alone.
Jermaine was a proud graduate of Southern University at New Orleans, an employee of the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office, a devoted member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a passionate advocate within his community. He lived a life of service, integrity, and love, and he deserves to be remembered for the positive impact he made on so many lives.
