Hello beautiful community! My name is Liz (Elizabeth) Benson. For those of you who don’t know me, I was born and raised in the luscious PNW. I am a passionate herbalist, artist, and yoga teacher dedicated to nurturing wellness, healing, and authentic connections with ourselves, each other and the Earth. I am excited to share a big project I have been working on: Rose Rooted PDX Elixir Bar, in collaboration with Rose Rooted, The Haven Art Collective and Earth & Nekter Collective.

Truly this is a community collaboration and I am calling on the support from family, friends and extended networks to bring this vision to life!

Thankfully, this amazing community is well resourced, making our opening expenses very minimal. But we still need some support to get started. This crowdfunding campaign will go directly to covering the following expenses:

First months rent and deposit $1,200

Misc. supplies and materials (cups, barware, decor, etc.) $500

Ingredients (herbal simple syrups, herbs, milk, matcha, cacao, etc.) $600

Marketing materials (menu, signage, flyers, etc.) $350

Additional funds for unforeseen opening expenses $350

The Vision: Rose Rooted PDX x The Haven Cafe Space

As The Haven amps up to open their new space in NE Portland this Spring, I have been working with Aela (MK) to bring Rose Rooted Elixir Bar in as part of a collaborative cafe offering. This space will be owned and operated by me, Liz, featuring elixirs crafted by Rose Rooted (Aela). It will be open regularly to anyone who wants a taste of the magic and benefits of non-alcoholic herbal infused libations and other offerings from multi-faceted creatives existing together in a curated space.

We plan to make this your new favorite evening gathering space with a lounge-like atmosphere that encourages connection, nervous system regulation, and feelings of euphoria through sober herbal-based beverages. Here you can connect with others, dance, share your poetry, perform a song and build community. Through Earth & Nekter Collective, we will offer an apothecary shelf featuring other local herbalists and continue to build ways to collaborate and grow this community.

The cafe space will also feature a coffee truck, offered in the mornings and The Purple Moonlight Gong Fu Tea Lounge (by Russell Bohr) available for bookings and special tea pouring hours. In addition to the cafe, guests are invited to explore the range of artists that call The Haven their home, healing arts practitioners and more.

This is a community space that will host events, open mics, community building opportunities and is available to book for private events, and endless other opportunities.

About Rose Rooted

Rose Rooted, formerly Barefood&Barefoot, founded by Aela (MK) in 2017 and operated in and around Portland from 2021-2024. It is a multi-faceted business rooted in earth-based practices. Rose Rooted’s mission is to cultivate healing experiences that nourish community and deep connection through alcohol and drug free experiences that entice all of the senses. Their main offering is their elixir bar, offered as pop-up at many events in The Haven and around the PNW over the years. About The Haven

The Haven is a full spectrum experiment in co-creation where the fostering of creative community and personal growth of the artist takes priority. The belief is that in this sort of environment, art happens organically as a byproduct.
