Under The Oaks Charter School is the proposed first public charter school in North Alabama, serving families across Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Athens, Trinity, Hazel Green, and Harvest. Our mission is to provide a transformative, whole-child education — one built on innovation, inclusion, and opportunity — for every child, regardless of their ZIP code or family background.

To bring this vision to life, we need to raise $275,000.

    •    $250,000 will go toward meeting the Alabama Public Charter School Commission’s financial readiness requirement, securing our facility, finalizing curriculum preparation, and providing staff salaries for our initial year.

    •    $25,000 will fund legal representation and court filings as we move before Judge Madeline H. Haikala to present our charter and affirm that our school will not interfere with Huntsville City Schools’ long-standing desegregation case.

While our reach includes Huntsville, our purpose extends far beyond city limits. We are building a regional charter that serves all of North Alabama — because educational choice should never be confined by boundaries or politics. Families from every surrounding community deserve access to a public school that is built for students, by parents, and led by purpose-driven educators.

We are facing an urgent legal and financial deadline. Without proper representation, our community’s voice has not been adequately heard — resulting in the loss of our conditional approval. But this is not the end of our story. We will stand before the court, and then before the commission again, to fight for fairness, innovation, and educational freedom.
