The Solitaire du Figaro is widely regarded as one of the most demanding solo offshore sailing races in the world. Sailors race alone, unsupported, in identical boats, across multiple back-to-back stages where success is decided by razor-thin margins, relentless conditions, and constant decision-making under fatigue.
My name is Ollie Hill. I’m a 25-year-old professional British sailor and engineer, campaigning with the long-term ambition of becoming the first British sailor to win the Solitaire du Figaro.
This is not just a race — it is a proving ground. Completing, let alone competing at the front of the Figaro fleet, requires years of preparation, qualification races, technical development, and total commitment both on and off the water.
In La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec 2025, I finished:
1st International Skipper (Vivi Trophy winner)
5th Rookie overall
19/35 Skippers
These results confirmed that this project belongs at the highest level — but continuing to build toward the front of the fleet requires significant support.
A Figaro campaign involves substantial costs, including:
-boat preparation, maintenance, and repairs
-sails and safety equipment
-race entry fees and logistics
-training and qualification races
-ongoing technical and performance development
Every contribution directly supports time on the water, preparation, and the ability to line up on the start line fully equipped and competitive.
This campaign is driven by the same values that define solo offshore racing: precision, resilience, innovation, and relentless improvement. As both a sailor and an engineer, I bring an analytical, detail-focused approach to every mile sailed.
If you choose to support this campaign, you’re not just donating to a race entry, you’re backing a serious offshore sailing project with a clear goal, proven progress, and the ambition to make British sailing history.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
