My name is Jayna Fay Knight, and I’m a multidisciplinary artist rebuilding my life from the ground up. The last few years have been a storm — domestic violence, a devastating apartment fire in 2022, financial instability, and having to come back to California to start over with almost nothing.

I’m still recovering from the fire that took nearly everything I owned. I’m still piecing together stability after the violence, the loss, and the uprooting. But one thing never left me — my art. It has carried me through the darkest moments and given me a direction when everything else fell apart.

Now, for the first time, I have the chance to turn that survival into a real career.

• Cover gallery + exhibition entry fees

• Purchase materials for my assemblage, sculpture, and mixed-media work

• Weatherproof and prepare pieces for outdoor/indoor buyers

I don’t share this for sympathy. I share it because transparency matters.

• survived restarting life alone, again, back in California

• survived rebuilding my income and safety from zero

And through all of that, I kept creating.

Art is the one thing that has never abandoned me.

This isn’t charity.

I didn’t choose art — art chose me. From the way I arrange objects to how I build meaning out of fragments, creating has always been my way of staying alive. People are beginning to notice my work. Galleries are responding. Opportunities are finally opening — but I cannot step into them without resources.
