Our Story

Hi, my name is Elaine! I’m the founder of MeeLi — but like all of us, there are many more sides to me. I grew up in a different country and experienced a lot of real-life stories through work like EMS, traveling, and eventually even moving countries. Building my life from scratch, I learned firsthand how lonely, overwhelming, and disconnected life can feel — even when you’re surrounded by people.

Social media was supposed to help us connect, but instead it often made things worse: more comparison, more pressure, less honesty and authenticity. Through all of that, I started realizing the potential of social media to truly connect us in this unique, messy, beautiful world we live in — and so, I decided to build something different.

MeeLi (“Meet Life”) is a healthy social app built around authenticity, real conversation, and in-person connection. Instead of feeding comparison, fake or AI-generated content, or endless scrolling, MeeLi helps people meet in real life, share honest stories, and feel less alone. As a recent graduate myself, I see how strongly students are affected by these pressures — which is why our first launch is MeeLi for students.

With the College of Charleston as our pilot partner, we’re working closely with students to create something that genuinely supports mental wellbeing and real connection. MeeLi has been selected as one of the most promising early-stage companies through the Harbor Entrepreneur Center Accelerator in Charleston. We’ve built a team with years of experience across tech, mental health, and community, and the response from students has been incredibly encouraging:

We’re raising funds to finish the first version of our app, launch on campus, and make sure MeeLi is built safely and thoughtfully from the start. While MeeLi has big long-term potential, this first round of funding helps cover development, moderation, basic operations, and gives us the runway to grow responsibly. Every contribution — no matter the size — helps bring MeeLi to life and shows that people truly want a healthier, more human way to connect.
