I am a Social Studies teacher at historic Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, California. After class, an ambitious sophomore approached me about starting a Model UN club, something we both knew little about. Since then, she has rallied dozens of her peers to learn about international affairs, debate, and public speaking.
Lincoln’s Model UN club is unique in Southern California because most programs exist in wealthy suburban schools rather than the predominantly Asian and Latin American immigrant communities where Lincoln MUN’s students reside. Enrollment fees in these Model UN competitions are expensive. On top of that, many of our students’ parents work weekends and cannot drive dozens of miles across the city, so we need to fund alternative transportation options.
With your donation, you will help students enroll in two model UN conferences and cover transportation costs. But more than that, you will help students develop skills and open seemingly closed doors. Model UN develops confidence in public speaking, research, and diplomacy. By funding our transit and enrollment, you will help develop these essential skills.
Thank you for your generous support!
