My name is Kahleem Poole-Tejada, a solo developer, artist, and storyteller from the Bronx.
For over 25 years, I’ve been building a project that began as a childhood idea and grew into something larger than life:
Legendary Heroes: A Game of Death.
This game started in notebooks. It grew into drawings. Then into animation tests. Then into a fully structured world with lore, characters, combat systems, and a unique visual approach inspired by classic martial-arts cinema, retro gaming energy, and modern storytelling.
I've worked on this project alone — writing, animating, designing, building, editing, and shaping every component by hand. Now, it’s time to take it to the next stage.
What Legendary Heroes Is
Legendary Heroes: A Game of Death is a story-driven martial-arts action game with:
Hand-crafted animation!!!
Original characters and lore
Classic “tower ascent” structure inspired by iconic martial-arts films
A mix of fighting-game DNA and narrative progression
A style that throws back to retro beat-em-ups while pushing modern indie flair
This is not a reskin or a clone.
This is an original IP, built from scratch, with heart, culture, grit, and authenticity.
Why I’m Asking for Support
As a one-man developer, I’ve taken this project as far as I can with my own time, energy, and resources. To bring Legendary Heroes to a professional, polished, public-ready level, I need support for:
Animation production & cleanup
Sound design & music
Voice acting
Combat system engineering
Engine upgrades
Marketing material
Professional trailer & demo build
Platform fees, publishing prep, and legal/IP protection
This is the phase where passion alone isn’t enough — actual funding is required to move forward.
For this project $35K covers a full solid year of development — but the minimum milestone to keep the project alive is $15–20K
- “Milestone 1 – $5,000: Stabilize development tools + early prototype”
- “Milestone 2 – $10,000: Full combat system + character art”
- “Milestone 3 – $20,000: Story mode + polished animations”
- “Full Funding Goal – $35,000: Year-long full-time development + launch build”
BUDGET BREAKDOWN
Development Tools & Software — $3,200
These are required to build, animate, edit, and integrate all game systems.
- Engine licenses, plugins, and add-ons
- Animation and art tools
- Sound design & editing software
- Cloud backup and file storage
- Production assets (fonts, SFX libraries, templates)
- This keeps the game functional, stable, and production-ready.
Hardware & Equipment — $2,800
Minimum necessary to ensure the game can be built and tested properly:
- PC upgrades (GPU/CPU/RAM/SSD) to handle development builds
- Backup drives
- Capture card for trailer/content creation
- Testing devices and peripherals
- Critical upgrades so the project doesn’t stall or crash due to hardware limitations.
Art, Animation & Content Production — $9,500
Even as a solo developer, certain assets must be created externally for quality and consistency:
- Character art, cleanup, and polish
- Animation touch-ups for combat, movement, and cutscenes
- Backgrounds and environmental art
- UI/UX elements (menus, icons, HUD)
- Trailer production assets
- This ensures the final game looks professional, consistent, and visually on-brand.
Music, Sound & Licensing — $2,000
The game’s tone depends on audio that fits the martial-arts narrative:
- Original music or licensed tracks
- Sound effects
- Mixing/mastering
- Audio is half the experience — especially for a martial-arts-inspired project.
Distribution, Marketing & Launch Prep — $3,500
To get the game in front of players and publishers:
- Steam fees + platform distribution costs
- Promotional trailers, thumbnails, and edit assets
- Advertising boosts (very small and targeted)
- Event submissions (indie showcases, festivals, etc.)
- This ensures the game doesn’t just get made — it gets seen.
Full-Time Solo Development (Living Costs) — $14,000
This is the biggest part — and the most essential.
It covers a year of basic survival while working full time:
- Rent contribution
- Utilities
- Food
- Transportation
- Essential bills
This is not a salary — it’s simply enough to stay alive while dedicating every day to completing the game.
Emergency Buffer (5%) — $0 (Absorbed Into Above Costs)
To show donors responsibility, no separate padding is added.
Any overruns will be handled inside the existing categories.
What Your Support Makes Possible
Your contribution goes directly toward:
- Completing the first full playable demo (DONE!!)
- Building the additional combat system and character movesets
- Expanding the animation library
- Securing proper audio, SFX, and music
- Preparing for a full Kickstarter campaign launch
- Protecting the IP and branding
- Bringing an original Bronx-made game to the world
Every contribution — small or big — pushes Legendary Heroes closer to reality.
Why This Matters
There aren’t enough indie creators from places like the Bronx breaking into gaming with original franchises! There aren’t enough solo devs creating skill-based gameplay action fighting game worlds rooted in martial-arts heritage and character-driven depth.
Not TOO many, anyway.
This project is bigger than nostalgia —
it’s representation, legacy, and a push to contribute to making the genre greater!
This here is why I need your support.
Let’s bring Legendary Heroes: A Game of Death to life — together.
Thank you.
