Help Launch the Kitchari Kart Food Cart & Healing Bus
Healing food • Homeschool on wheels • Nourishing communities
Hi, I'm Chef Christina Sunshine, founder of Kitchari Kart — a mobile Ayurvedic kitchen that serves warm, organic, plant-based Kitchari at festivals, retreats, and gatherings.
I’m raising funds to not only build a custom Kitchari cart, but also to purchase and convert a short bus into a mobile kitchen and home for me and my 6-year-old son. This journey is more than a business — it’s a lifestyle of healing, service, and alternative education.
Why a Short Bus?
As a single mother and small business owner, this mobile kitchen will:
Pull the food trailer to events, markets, and mutual aid sites
Serve as our off-grid home while traveling
Be a place for my son’s homeschool education rooted in nature, food systems, and community service
Let us live simply and give freely while growing our mission
What We’re Building
A custom Ayurvedic food cart for events & food service
A converted short bus that functions as our mobile kitchen & home
A food project focused on community nourishment and educational values
How Funds Will Be Used:
Item Cost
Custom Kitchari food cart $8,000
Short bus purchase & registration $7,000
Off-grid bus buildout (kitchen, solar, bunks) $6,000
Licensing, permits, certifications $2,000
Initial inventory & organic ingredients $1,000
Compostable serviceware $1,000
Total Goal $25,000
Why It Matters
Kitchari Kart is structured as a 508(c)(1)(a) Trust, so a portion of all profits goes to food access work in communities. Your support helps us:
Serve at wellness festivals, mutual aid events, and cultural gatherings
Offer pay-what-you-can meals
Raise a child with strong roots in service, food, and healing
