Hi, I’m Caydin, the founder of Heirloom Vintage & Consignment, a
curated boutique set to open in Rochester, Minnesota. I’m reaching out with a dream to create a warm, inclusive space where vintage fashion,
sustainability, and community come together. As an AAPI woman with a lifelong love for secondhand style, I need your help to bring this vision to life, and I’m so grateful for every moment you take to read my story.

My Journey in Fashion and Community
I’ve been enchanted by the stories behind vintage clothing since I was a teenager, selling second hand pieces as a side hustle. That passion grew into a deep knowledge of the resale market, shaped by my experience in fashion styling, retail management, and my ongoing business management studies.
Working alongside a local consignment shop owner in Rochester gave me invaluable insight into the business of resale and fueled my dream of creating Heirloom Vintage & Consignment. This won’t just be a store, it’s a community-driven space for curated vintage, local consignment, and products from Rochester’s artists and designers.
What sets Heirloom apart is its marriage of curated style with social impact. We’re tapping into the growing demand for sustainable fashion, offering conscious consumers pieces that are rich in history and individuality. Every item we sell carries a story and a future, and every customer becomes part of the vibrant community we’re building. As a transplant to Rochester, I’ve felt how isolating this city can be, especially for those here for extended medical stays at Mayo Clinic. I envision Heirloom as a welcoming hub where everyone, locals, visitors, and newcomers can connect, express themselves through unique fashion, and engage in collaborations with local creatives. This is more than a shop; it’s about sustainability, inclusion, and creating a space where people feel at home.
Launching a brick-and-mortar store is a bold undertaking, especially for a first-time entrepreneur. The costs of securing a retail space, transforming it into a warm and creative environment, and sourcing an initial inventory are daunting. I’ve also grappled with moments of self-doubt, wondering if I can break through in a competitive market without a financial safety net. There are nights when I’m up late, sketching store layouts or balancing budgets, feeling the weight of this dream. But the thought of the community Heirloom could foster keeps me pushing forward.
Without investors or significant savings, I’m relying on my experience, my passion, and the generosity of people like you to make Heirloom a reality. Your support through this campaign is my chance to overcome these hurdles and build a space that blends style with purpose.

How Your Support Will Bring Heirloom to Life
I’m aiming to raise $5,000 to launch Heirloom Vintage & Consignment and make it a vibrant part of Rochester. Your donations will go directly to:
- Retail Space Buildout: Securing a lease and renovating a welcoming, accessible storefront that reflects Heirloom’s inclusive values.
- Initial Inventory: Curating a collection of vintage clothing and setting up a consignment system for local sellers and designers.
- Store Setup: Purchasing fixtures, racks, signage, and cozy décor to create an inviting atmosphere.
- Technology: Investing in a point-of-sale system and eco-friendly packaging for sustainable operations.
- Branding and Marketing: Funding local marketing efforts and a grand opening event to connect with the Rochester community.
- Legal and Licensing: Covering business permits, licenses, and legal fees to establish Heirloom as a legitimate small business.
Every contribution, big or small, brings me closer to opening Heirloom’s
doors and creating a space where sustainability, creativity, and community thrive.
To everyone who donates, shares, or reads my story, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support is more than a gift; it’s a belief in my vision, a step toward a more sustainable and connected Rochester, and a reminder that I’m not alone. You’re helping me build a place where stories live on in every vintage piece, where locals and visitors feel at home, and where fashion meets purpose. I’ll carry your kindness with me as I work to make Heirloom Vintage & Consignment a reality. Join me in this journey and follow along on social media to see Heirloom come to life!
