Hello everyone,

My name is Bryan Hunt, and I am a pharmacist and young entrepreneur starting up El Cerrito's first specialty compounding pharmacy. The plan is to open in June with a seasoned lab manager with 15+ years of experience. Campanella Compounding Pharmacy's mission is to provide exceptional quality medications to our community at affordable prices. Located in El Cerrito Plaza, we will be accessible to those traveling by BART. While I've secured funding for the essential pharmacy equipment and licensing, I'm raising additional money to better serve the community struggling with healthcare access.

Most Bay Area compounding pharmacies are strictly out-of-pocket and are either unable to accommodate patients' financial situations or unwilling to work them into their busy schedules for the low reimbursement rates that insurances provide.

Each dollar donated will be matched by Campanella Compounding Pharmacy and put towards subsidizing the cost of compounded medications for the Bay Area's patients with Medi-cal, who are uninsured, or whose doctor's request additional financial support. I will continue to allocate a portion of revenue towards keeping this as an ongoing service.

My goal is to raise $10,000 and match that amount, which can provide dozens of patients with medication starting in year one.

Some examples of medications that can be essential but expensive include all-purpose nipple ointments for nursing mothers or ointments for anal fissures that cannot be effectively treated with commercial medications. Other patients need custom hormone preparations, preservative-free formulations for severe allergies, or specialized treatments for mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).

Due to federal laws, I cannot offer prescription discounts to donors; however, I would like to recognize founding supporters on our website. Additionally, I can offer provider referrals for complex conditions and provide pharmacist services such as medication therapy management or consultations regarding hormone replacement therapy that traditional retail pharmacists are often too busy or ill-equipped to help with. My experience over the last 6 years in compounding includes HRT, mast cell activation syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
