Some songs take you straight back to a day. DayJam is an iPhone app for putting a song to today: pick your track, add photos or video, arrange your scenes and share it with friends.

I’m Nicholas Hornsby, DayJam’s founder. I’m raising $4,000 to help get its first community started. DayJam is in the US App Store now.
Friends can listen, comment and score what you share. Scores and ranks make it a game, and you can build a crew of up to 10 people. Your profile calendar keeps your past DayJams together, so you can go back to a song and the day it belonged to.

Where it came from
DayJam started with a group chat of 15 people who took the idea seriously. It became an obsession, and I decided to give it its own app. Today I work on DayJam myself, through SKINJA INC.
Why I’m asking for $4,000
A DayJam is better when there is someone to send it to. What I want now is to get people making their first DayJam, sharing songs with friends and coming back to do it again.
That takes work the app can’t do for itself: helping people get started, supporting them once they join, making original launch content and reaching the first participants. Behind that sit hosting and the privacy, media-rights and quality checks the work needs.
$4,000 is a starting budget for a small community pilot, and every line of it is below. I’ll fit the work to what actually comes in.

How to help
If you’d like to help the first community get started, contribute here. You can also try DayJam, or send it to a friend you’d want to share songs with.

What the $4,000 would cover
These amounts are my estimates for a small first pilot, not quotes.
Hosting and help getting started: $1,000
Original launch content: $800
Reaching the first participants: $700
Community moderation and support: $600
Privacy, media-rights and quality checks: $400
Estimated payment fees: $140
Reserve for changes and unexpected costs: $360
Total goal: $4,000
The payment-fee line is an estimate. It assumes contributions averaging $50 and GoFundMe’s published US single-donation rate of 2.9% plus $0.30. The real figure will depend on the number and size of contributions. Refunds or payment holds may also reduce what is available.
I’ll report what comes in, what I spend and what changes. If DayJam receives support through another platform, I’ll account for all of it together so the same expense isn’t funded twice. Any unused reserve, or money raised above the goal, would stay within DayJam’s community work, and I’d explain the plan in an update.

DayJam is available for iPhone in the US App Store and requires iOS 26 or later. Supported music playback depends on your music service, account and subscription.
