On February 24th, I lost my beloved dog of six years, Ceceillia. She went into shock from an unknown cause, and the cost for treatment was more than I could afford. Without the ability to pay upfront, we made her comfortable with oxygen and, as her condition rapidly declined, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to humanely euthanize her.
Just two days later, on February 26, 2026, my other beloved dog, Keke, passed away from salmonella poisoning. Again, I was faced with the tragic reality that I could not afford the treatment she needed, and she was suffering. Losing both of my dogs in such a short time, simply because I didn’t have the funds for emergency care, was devastating.
These experiences inspired me to start the C&K Emergency Foundation. My goal is to be there for pets who have a chance—to help families who, like me, are faced with impossible choices because of financial hardship. The funds raised will help cover New Mexico corporation filing fees, the IRS 1023-Z filing fee, liability insurance, a basic website for fundraising, accountant fees, establish insurance and a business license. These are the first steps to officially establish the CK Emergency Foundation and begin helping pets in need. I hope you’ll support me in building a foundation that ensures no pet is denied life-saving care due to financial hardship. Your help can make a real difference for families and their beloved animals.
