Hi! I'm a trained electrologist working to start my own hair removal practice focusing on the needs of the transgender and LGBTQ+ community in Pittsburgh. I've struggled with my own unwanted hair for years and suffered through many treatments, and I love nerding out about the science of hair removal (see above)! I recently graduated from the Berkowits School of Electrolysis in Queens, NYC, and I've acquired a professional electrolysis machine in good working order. But starting a business is expensive, and I need your help to bring a new trans-owned electrolysis practice to our community.
Right now, I've been working on friends and family to keep my skills sharp, but there are several hurdles left to go before I can turn my passion into a full-time business, and traditional financing isn't an option with my partner and I out of work. I still need to buy a professional liability policy, proper treatment furniture, and a whole laundry list of other supplies before I can even begin taking a few vetted clients in my home, as well as meet our basic living expenses while I work to turn my new business profitable. Further funds will go toward the security deposit and initial rent on a proper salon space so that I can open to the public and start advertising more widely, hopefully by the end of the year.
Your donations won't just go towards helping us keep afloat and turn this into a profitable business. I want to pay every dollar forward, as soon as I can, in the form of free or reduced cost services to community members in need. So I'm asking you to please donate what you can to both help me get on my feet and help other trans folks get the treatment they need. Thank you!
