My cousin Latoya Williamson is 41 years old.
She was diagnosed with lupus since 2010.
She is a warrior fighting this horrible
autoimmune disease. However in 2019 she
started having swelling of the limbs and
abdomen and was hospitalized for 6 weeks. A
biopsy confirmed that she had stage 5
Kidney damage due to lupus nephritis. In 2020
she was further hospitalized for another 6
weeks and started dialysis. She is a
pharmacist by profession but was unable to
work for a period due to her illness. She has
had numerous hospitalizations since. She has
utilized all of her savings to fund her twice
weekly dialysis and her monthly medications.
She sometimes misses dialysis due to lack of
funds and this has taken a toll on her body.
She suffers from gross abdominal ascites and
appear pregnant. She is currently having arm
swelling in the fistula arm (the arm that she
does dialysis through). This is due to a
narrowing of the vein where she previously
had in a catheter. As such she is in need of a
urgent venoplasty surgery to correct this and
prevent further complications . She is seeking
your
assistance to fund her dialysis, venoplasty
surgery and to start the process of finding a
kidney match.
