Help LaTosha and Her Miracle Baby Through an Unexpected Early Arrival

If you know LaTosha, you know her heart: she’s the kind of person who shows up for everyone. LaTosha and I have been best friends since before kindergarten, and I’ve witnessed countless moments when she gave to others quietly, even when she had very little herself. Through her work, her family, and all the ways she contributes to our community, she has always put people before herself often, in my opinion as her best friend, to the point of spreading herself too thin.

Now, she needs us to show up for her.

After years of trying to get pregnant, LaTosha finally received the miracle she’s prayed for but her pregnancy has taken a stressful turn. Due to the high-risk nature of her pregnancy and the unforeseen complications, her doctors discovered that her baby isn’t getting normal blood flow through the umbilical cord. She’s now hospitalized on inpatient bed rest, receiving ultrasounds and Doppler monitoring every few hours to ensure the baby is getting enough oxygen and nutrients.

While things are stable at this time, her doctors will have to deliver the baby by C-section much sooner than we hoped. That means both mom and baby are facing a long, uncertain road that includes an extended stay in the NICU after birth.

Between her unexpected hospitalization, an early C-section, and recent interruptions to her usual income, LaTosha is now facing several months without reliable pay. Her monthly expenses average around $2,000, not including the added costs of traveling to and from the hospital, temporary lodging near the NICU, and basic baby necessities. Because her daughter will arrive early, it’s still unclear what the baby's medical needs will be once she’s home, which adds another layer of uncertainty, fear, and emotional strain for this young family.
