Hi, my name is Lateef Abdullah, and I’m a freelance stylist and creative based in Los Angeles. I have the privilege of working with artists and contributing to editorial projects as I strive to make a name for myself in the industry. As the only one in my family living on the West Coast, I’ve always felt a strong sense of responsibility as the primary breadwinner, especially when it comes to supporting my parents. This has added a lot of pressure, and I’ve always worked hard to ensure we’re okay.

However, recent setbacks and cancellations have made it incredibly difficult for me to meet even my basic needs. I’m still waiting for overdue payments from several gigs, and several opportunities were lost due to the devastating wildfires that have affected so many people in Los Angeles. As a freelance artist one delayed payment can set you back tremendously, let alone several months. It’s been a humbling and challenging time for me, and I’m honestly not used to asking for help. But I’ve come to realize that we all need support, especially in a world that doesn’t always offer it to us.
