In Latasha's words...
On April 11, I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer while in the ER for what I thought was chronic back pain that had affected my mobility. Thankfully the ER doctor dug a little deeper and discovered that cancer had metastasized on my back and that the source was from my breast...
Two weeks prior at a mammogram, my Dr. discovered lumps on both breasts and had scheduled a biopsy. My doctor was not worried about at that time, because I have no breast cancer in my family history and the lumps couldn’t be found through a regular physical exam.
After recent scan results, stage 4 breast cancer is what I have been diagnosed with. The doctors say "it’s the good kind to have", as far as cancer goes. However, the cancer has gotten a head start on us and is in my brain, lungs, and parts of my back. The doctors are confident that if we start strong treatment right away that we can beat it. Radiation and chemo is needed Monday through Friday in the beginning. Treatment is about 4 months for the first wave.
My dad is here from Hawaii to help me navigate this new reality. I am not able to return to work during treatment, as I will have side effects and limited mobility. Because of the spread of the cancer to my back and brain, I’m unable to move without assistance so a leave of absence is needed and impacting my finances, so anyone able and willing to help meet my regular financial needs I’m so thankful for and, of course, prayer! Prayer for healing, and prayer for my family (especially my dad as he tries to be a caregiver again after all these years).
Thankfully I know Jesus has this!
