On October 22, 2025, my life changed forever. I woke up with a pounding migraine and uncontrollable vomiting — what I thought was just another bad day quickly turned into a nightmare I could never have prepared for.
I went to the ER at Summerlin Hospital, where my condition rapidly declined over the course of 48 hours due to poor medical decisions and lack of urgency in my care. By the time anyone realized how serious my situation was, I had completely lost vision in my left eye, partial vision in my right, developed facial paralysis, and suffered intracranial bleeding.
After it became clear that no surgeons in Las Vegas could perform the life-saving procedure I needed, I was airlifted to USC Keck Medical Center in California on the night of October 23. The next day, October 24, I underwent emergency brain surgery to remove a tumor from my pituitary gland that had enlarged and pressed on my optic chiasm.
While I am beyond grateful to still be alive, my recovery has been extremely difficult. My vision is slowly recovering but remains distorted, which has made it impossible to work or continue my dreams of beginning electrician training. I’ve always been someone who worked hard to provide for my family — but this sudden medical crisis has left me unable to support the people who mean the most to me.
I have a fiancé, two daughters, and two stepdaughters who depend on me the most. This experience has not only been physically and emotionally devastating but has also placed an unbearable financial strain on my family.
I’m asking for help — whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer — to get through this chapter and begin rebuilding my life. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings me closer to recovery, stability, and being there again for my family.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for your kindness during the hardest fight of my life.
With gratitude,
LaShaun Polk
