Help Larry's Family Reunite and Heal

My father Larry has been fighting cancer for two years. I know everyone says this, but he’s the best guy I know.

Him and my adopted mother adopted my brother and I in their mid forties, previously they had adopted my birth mother who was an addict with mental health issues.

When she had my brother and I, and was unable to care for us. My adopted father and mother took on the job to raise us, at their age, and worked past retirement age to support us.

They took in my and my brothers friends, having dinners with them as if they were family, letting them stay when they actually didn’t have family. And having presents under the tree with their names on it for Christmas’s they spent with us without even a thought. This was their standard.

unyielding acceptance and unyielding kindness.

A year and a half ago my mother had a stroke and my dad took care of her by himself because I couldn’t afford to go down and see them.

My brother passed away 7 years ago, my mother found him.

every holiday and every birthday has felt darker since. I sign my brothers name on the cards. Something I wouldn’t wish on anyone else in this world.

My sister recently fought cancer as well. And got a clear scan right before my dad got diagnosed with cancer. It seems like as a family we all let out a sigh of relief only for it to be taken right away again.

My family moves forward with a lot of grief, trauma and financial struggles.

I want to fly down to see my dad, and my mom. I want to see them and take them out to dinner without any of us worrying about having to make do just because we took the money to spend on an experience together.

with this amount I can afford to take the couple days off work, fly down there and then afford a taxi or uber to bring me there from the airport because it is pretty far. I can show up and surprise them, and take them to dinner. I haven’t seen my parents for a year.

when the present, and future is uncertain each day I am away from my father eats at me.

I appreciate all and any help. Thank you so much.

my ultimate dream would be the three of us going on a trip together, as a family. Talking working through and healing the things life has thrown at us. Until I save up for that. I’d love to just see my parents.

thank you so much.
