A Strong Foundational Push for a Struggling Senior Citizen
Even Greater Update:
Larry is off to a great new beginning thanks to each of the wonderful helpers out there.
Fundraising will continue through 12/5/24
If you would like to contribute to my semi-retired friend’s well being, your dollars will go a long way towards comforts in the form of food, gas, tickets to NYC where he will pursue part time work as the amazing jeweler that he is… as well, any extra dollar can go towards as a few new items for his new home.
I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for helping to keep him out of harms way.
♥️
Great News Update:
As of Monday morning, just 3 days into fundraising, Larry has attained a 1,350 in personal loans, a private gift of 700 and 370 from Go-Fund-Me.
We were expecting the lease signing on Monday, but it has been delayed to at least tomorrow. The 2,420 previously described will cover the realtor fee, security, first month, pro-rated last days of November and even a little toward guaranteed parking (150/mth extra).
At least one of his two sons were reached as of today (thank goodness since they couldn’t have known the make-it or break-it nature of this sudden opportunity) and his son(s) can help towards other needs until Larry’s social security check arrives on the 3rd of December.
Larry is off to a great new beginning thanks to each of you wonderful helpers out there.
If you would still like to contribute toward my semi-retired friend who lost his home to foreclosure during the late pandemic, your dollars will go a long way towards comforts in the form of food, gas, tickets to NYC where he will pursue part time work, as well as a few new items for his new home.
I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for helping to keep him out of harms way.
Happy Thanksgiving and have a blessed new year,
Keely Jo
The Story:
My name is Keely. My friend Larry lost his home to foreclosure during the pandemic. The circumstances near the epicenter in NY annihilated many self-employed people’s work, and Larry was not only near retirement age but was deeply affected by COVID and isolation.
I have witnessed Larry work hard over the last year to regain footing while being transient, essentially couch-surfing between five locations as a senior citizen.
As his assistant, I’ve spent countless hours over the last 12 months to help him stabilize.
As of yesterday, we finally able got through the paperwork process to help him attain a room within a legal rooming house in Westchester.
The initial expenditure is three times the cost of the $700 room, and his Social Security check won’t arrive until the third of December.
His children are helpful, however they live overseas and haven’t been easy to reach within these last several days since the opportunity presented itself.
Westchester is one of the highest cost of living counties in all of the US. We need $2100 now to start.
Any and all money will be used toward this aim, and any extra money, should we be so fortunate, will go to basic survival needs.
Larry is one of the three most frugal persons I’ve ever known, which puts him up there with my mother and my sister.
I have known him for ten years, and he has been a good friend to me as well.
I would appreciate it so much if people can kick in even $10, $25, or more. Every dollar will be used for the most basic expenses. If we should surpass this goal, you’ll help him to push off this new foundation with meals, money for the train, gas, phone bill or car insurance.
Once Larry is back on his feet, which can be in a matter of days, he will be pursuing part-time work.
We are headed towards winter, and outside of this rooming house opportunity, the lowest rent I could find was $1250/mth..
It’s really important that we make this goal, and I thank you so much for any help that you can extend.
Sincerely,
Keely Nelson
