Larry is a devoted husband and father who has always put others first. After nearly 50 years of marriage, we've faced many challenges together, but his recent hip replacement and the serious postoperative complications have been especially tough. Larry suffered postoperative delirium and had to be rushed by ambulance to Pres/St. Luke's in Denver. Now that he's home, our children have stepped in to help, but the out-of-pocket costs for equipment, medications, copays, and unexpected bills have quickly become overwhelming.
Larry's safety and comfort at home are our top priorities. We need monitors and security equipment to keep him safe when I can't be by his side, a real grab bar installed in the shower, decent bed pillows, and a shower chair we can keep (we're borrowing one now). Tools for putting on socks and picking things up, and a better wheelchair are also urgently needed. While we hope our insurance will eventually help with some items, the wait and the mounting copays are making things difficult. Every contribution will go directly toward these essentials and help us manage the building bills for Larry's care.
Larry has always been the person others could count on. He loves golf and has spent years supporting me in my work to achieve Medicare for all, often as my unpaid staff. Whether carrying signs and banners, standing in the heat and rain, or quietly helping behind the scenes, Larry never gave up on helping me and, by extension, helping many others. Now, as he faces this challenging recovery, we are asking for support to give Larry the care and dignity he deserves at home.
