Hello Family, Friends and the generous people that don't know us.
This fund was initially set up to help with home modifications and unexpected costs. Larry gained his wings on May 10, 2026 and we are now in the throws of chaotic emotions and planning the services. We are also trying to navigate transportation for 5 daughters and 6 grandsons, and 2 great grandchildren which is very expensive.
I really appreciate all your help with this and nothing will go to waste.
INITIAL FUNDRAISER:
It's been really hard for me to ask for help because I'm the one that is the helper, but this time we need help. For the past 4 years my husband has been battling a rare form of kidney cancer. While he has done really well these past 4 years, these past 6 months have been REALLY hard health wise, emotionally and financially. About a month ago, he fell while trying to stand up and fractured his spine in 2 places. Last week we almost lost him due to an Aorta Aneurysm Dissection that almost ruptured. He had a 4 hour surgery and 14 stints put in. During this time, I stayed in hotels in Colorado Springs so I could be close to him while he recovered in ICU. My FMLA/FMLI benefits are almost exhausted and the lower FMLI pay has strained our finances tremendously.
We are in need of funds to offset several financial setbacks including hotel stays, lost/lower wages, and home modifications. I'd like to build a stable ramp for the wheelchair and walker. The one I bought off Amazon was not stable enough. I'd also like to buy a smaller sink vanity for our tiny bathroom to allow more room. As it is now, the walker can not fit in there to get him in the shower. We also need to modify our entry doorway to allow for easy rollover. It has a hump that we want removed so it's smooth.
I am currently sewing a bit to try to make a few extra dollars, but it's not enough to make the improvements that we need. I have also reached out to non-profits to help with modifications, but the waitlists are long and we're not guaranteed to be chosen. I know times are hard for everyone right now, but if you find it in your heart to help us during these hard times, we would be forever grateful. I'm thanking you in advance for your generosity.
