Help Larry Get a New Chair

I have created this page on behalf of my friend, Larry Naccarato, who needs your help. Larry was in a car accident in 2004 which left him almost totally paralyzed. Initially, he lived in a nursing home for ten years. For a once vibrant young man, father and home builder, it was like being incarcerated. In 2014, Larry obtained a State grant which finally allowed him to move into a humble apartment. Larry only wanted caretakers in the morning to get him comfortable, feed him, then return each night to help him into bed. Because of his injuries, Larry lost the ability to talk, and therefore really needs an advocate for his current situation.
He’s had a string of “less than helpful” Coordinators. Three years ago, the frame on his bed busted. After months of broken promises by the Insurance company, Larry started using an air mattress. When that failed, he simply went to pillows on the floor – which made for many painful nights of “sleep”. After months of this, his Doctor came to give him a physical. She saw his makeshift “bed” and what it was doing to him physically. With one phone call, he had a new bed the next day!
Larry loves go outside and ride through the local park. The odometer on his “dying” wheelchair has just over a thousand miles on it! His aging chair is now too weak to cross the gap between the floor and elevator – preventing him from getting out into the fresh air.
Now, Larry is stuck in a failing chair, that is his “everything” – literally his lifeline to the outside world. Without a newer chair, he can’t do anything. And if it’s left up to his Coordinators, nothing will change. This is where all of you who have the resources, can make a true difference in the life of someone who desperately needs our help.
