Help Larry & Ellen Cowart pay his medical bills

Larry was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma on June 29. He has a Tumor on his left Tonsil and it has spread to his lymphoid. Surgery is not an option to remove the tumor. The only option he has is treatment and medication. It is a very fast growing type cancer. Beginning August 16 Larry start his treatments at UVA. He will have 3 infusions a week for 7 weeks of Chemo and Radiation 5 days a week for 7 weeks. Both Chemo and Radiation will be done at the same time. Last Thursday Larry had to have major dental surgery done. This was needed because of the severe damage the radiation will cause to his teeth. He will be on a liquid diet while he goes through his treatments. He will not be able to eat solids for a year or more. He has been in a lot of pain and has had no appetite. The doctors have discussed putting in a feeding tube if he can’t get the nutrition that he needs. The medication alone for the nausea that he will experience from the Chemo is $500. He is on several antibiotics and pain meds until treatment starts to be sure any infection prior to his treatments is gone. Larry and Ellen need help with all of these extra expenses that they were prepared for. Larry has always been a very active person and is always helping others when they need it expecting nothing in return. This is devastating to both Larry and Ellen. Everyone who knows Larry knows he is self employed. If he can’t work he can’t provide for them. He will not be able to work while going through this. Ellen will have limited hours at work due to her having to take care of Larry and take him to all of his treatments and doctor appointments. All of Larry’s treatments will be done at UVA which will require them to travel an hour each way.
