Help Larry Black obtain a new lease on life

Hi, my name is Tanya. I am raising funds for my husband's double lung transplant and lifelong medical expenses. Larry was diagnosed in 2020 with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rare lung scarring with no known cause. We have reached the part of our journey (as there is no cure) for the transplant, which is the only course of action we can now take. All transplant centers require that patients participate in fundraising throughout their journey. The reason is that even though the 2 million dollar operation will be paid by insurance and the anti-rejection meds are covered, many expenses are not. For example, Larry will always be immunosuppressed. Therefore, a total lifestyle change is necessary, even the drugs for fungal/anti-viral/ and bacterial infections are several thousand a month, and it may take several months when you get sick to get clear. Travel will be an ongoing expense. We have been to Cleveland several days at a time with 9 to 10 appointments a day just for the testing. After the transplant, we will have to relocate to Cleveland for 4 to 6 months which is the average stay without complications. After we get home, weekly trips to Cleveland for observation will gradually lessen over time but probably never less than every three months for life. The transplant team of doctors are your doctors for life. No other doctor or hospital can treat or prescribe meds unless run through your transplant team first, unless, of course, it is a life or death situation. The expenses don't stop there; for example, our home is on a well, so we will need a whole house water purification system so that he can use the water.
