Help Larry & Betty with extensive medical costs

Hi, my name is Lisa VanRyn and I am trying to help raise money for my dearest friend Larry Harmon. Please read on about this wonderful man who was hit by an unknown driver in a car while riding his bike.

Words from Betty Harmon, " My husband Larry Harmon has been in the hospital in La Paz, BSC, Mexico since December 11, 2021. He was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. He has been in the Intensive Care Unit and has undergone 4 surgeries at this point; for his broken ankle, broken shoulder, fractured vertebrae, and broken ribs. He was collecting fluid around his lung and had a chest tube inserted to help drain off the fluid. He developed an infection in the lungs and has been on IV antibiotics for that. He has extensive hardware inserted into his left ankle now to stabilize it, but has developed an issue with the surrounding skin that doctors are monitoring to see if a skin graft will be needed in the near future. He was unable to breath on his own or to clear his airway so now he has a tracheostomy to help with that.

Larry is a proud veteran of the US Navy. He served in Japan for a portion of his 4 years in service, where he worked as a mine sweeper. Larry is also a retired Fresno Police Department Officer who proudly served the San Joaquin valley for close to 30 years.

We are not covered by any insurance and the costs have been all out of our pockets. Any help would be much appreciated."

Far exceeding the exorbitant hospital costs that Larry and Betty have already incurred, now they are faced with purchasing/renting medical equipment to bring into their home, as he is being discharged with Betty today. Betty has been by his side daily, assisting staff and learning how to care for him. This next chapter she will be alongside 24/7 home care nursing staff. The costs of medical equipment, supplies, and staff will continue to be a monthly expense that they are unable to easily afford. Betty and Larry know nothing about the person who hit Larry with their car, but they are trying to attain some legal help with that as well.

I've known Larry and his family now for about 46 years! Larry is an avid outdoorsman who loves cycling, horse back riding, kayaking, and such. He would give a stranger the shirt off his back to anyone he saw in need.

I know that any help we could donate would be so greatly appreciated and please join me in praying that God continue to bring Larry through this unbelievable accident. God has been making a way so far...I have no doubt that He will continue.
