Help Larissa replace a stolen car

Hi everyone, I’m Larissa Harari, I came to Duke from Brazil to get my Masters through a Rotary Peace Fellowship and now live with my girlfriend Jen in Durham. Our house in Durham was hit by a big oak tree last Friday Sep 30th. Jen and I were not home and everybody is safe, and insurance is taking care of a place for us to stay and the house repairs.
BUT, on Sunday night, somebody broke into our house through the kitchen window, and stole my car keys and my car (a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer) that we warmly called “Uhtred”- the warrior.
We didn’t think the keys were accessible because they were in the room most affected by the tree. The house and ceiling were not stable, so we were waiting for it to be stabilized to go and grab the keys. Unfortunately, I only had liability insurance. I recently graduated from grad school, and when I got the policy, I was trying to cut costs until I found a job. My insurance won’t cover for my stolen car, and Jen’s home insurance doesn’t cover cars.
This GoFundMe is to help me get a similar used SUV, so the funds will all be spent on my new transportation. It’s more expensive now than when Uhtred was first purchased. If you want to help but want to avoid GoFundMe fees, Venmo works great, and my handle is @larissaharari. Payments through GoFundMe will count as a tax-deductible donation, though.
