After years of waiting, Larissa is finally getting top surgery on September 18th! This is super exciting but they only received 2 weeks notice from the surgeon and only have 1 days to prepare and raise funds. Larissa has been struggling with gender dysphoria for years and has been wearing a binder daily which causes back and chest pain and can damage tissue and lungs overtime. Larissa has been researching and talking through this surgery for many years now and she is so deserving of the peace that will come from feeling at home in their body. Gender affirming care is necessary and improves heath and overall quality of life. Larissa works a physically demanding job and will have to take 2 months off in order to recover. The total cost of their surgery alone is $10,000. With insurance, Larissa will owe $6,500. While he is fortunate to receive one month of paid disability from his job, they will be paid about half of their usual month’s salary due to the loss of tip wages. While recovering, Larissa will still be responsible for rent, groceries, recovery supplies, and daily necessities and the remaining funds will assist with those expenses.
