Help Larissa diagnosed with a rare blood disease
I have known Amanda for 13-plus years. She has put herself through school to be a pharmacy technician and then continued her education to obtain her Master's in Special Education. During this time she had a miracle daughter Larissa as she was told she would never be able to have children. Larissa is now 12 years old and was recently diagnosed with Paroxysmal nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH Clone) which is a rare and complex blood disease that involves the destruction of red blood cells and causes patients a variety of symptoms such as anemia, blood clots, and/or bone marrow failure all of which can lead to life-threatening complications. Larissa’s condition is not curable but is treatable through monoclonal antibody therapy which she will have to receive every 8 weeks for the remainder of her life. Larissa and her mom have been at Stanford’s Children’s Hospital since September 22, 2023. Amanda is the sole provider of her family and has not been able to go back to work as she has been at the bedside with Larissa. This has put a huge financial burden on the family and caused a tremendous amount of stress on Amanda, trying to figure out how she will be able to pay bills, utilities, and rent that are overdue. Larissa is a genuinely happy young lady with a heart of gold and has kept a positive attitude through everything she has been going through. The family is currently staying two blocks from the hospital at a Ronald McDonald House so they can be close to the hospital where Larissa is starting her treatment and receiving blood transfusions bi-weekly. We are asking for any financial assistance to support the family so they can continue to support themselves during their hospital stay as well as their utilities and rent back at home. I am so very proud of both Larissa and Amanda for keeping positive attitudes and supporting one another through this difficult time. If we can please help Larissa and Amanda to be able to come back from the hospital and still have their home. We are trying to raise at least 20,000 for rent, utilities, transportation, and basic necessities so the family has what they need now during their hospital stay and a home to come back to. Please help my dear friend and her family in any way possible during this challenging time. Anything will be greatly appreciated prayers included.
