My name is Larissa, and I’m an aspiring nail tech working hard to finish school despite some tough challenges. After my dad struggled with addiction and we lost our home, my mom became a single parent. We spent six months living in a hotel, then moved in with my grandpa until I graduated high school. Those years taught me resilience, but they also left us with very little financial stability.

Now, I’m in nail school, determined to build a better future for myself. I pay tuition and spend a significant amount on gas just to get to and from school, which is 45 minutes away. My school doesn’t accept financial aid, and my part-time job only just covers my school bills. My mom wants to help, but if she does, we risk not having enough for food. On top of tuition and gas, I have to buy and refill my own tools for class, since the school doesn’t provide refills. That leaves me with nothing left for food or other necessities.
