Larisa's sister and her family have just experienced a devastating loss. Their home, which they spent the last seven years building and living in, was destroyed in a fire. While the family was away at the time, their beloved pets were inside. When the fire was discovered, Larisa's mom did everything she could to save all of the animals. She bravely walked into the burning building to try to rescue them, but the smoke was too thick. She even had the neighbors knock a hole in the wall so she could climb in where she thought the pets would be hiding, but the fire was still too intense to find the two boys. Despite these heroic efforts, only two of the four pets could be saved. The two older brothers, Courage and Oslo, who had been part of the family for a decade, were lost in the fire. Their bodies were recovered so they could be laid to rest together, just as they spent their lives. Everything in the home is a total loss. All of the family's savings had gone into building this home for their children, Everyn (5) and Ember (2), to give them stability and a place to call their own. Now, that stability is gone in an instant. Larisa's sister works part-time, and her husband is currently on medical leave after recent surgery, making this loss even more overwhelming. The family is left with only the clothes on their backs and no place to call home. They need help to secure a new place to live, buy clothes and personal hygiene items, and provide toys and books for the children. They will also need to replace everything lost in the fire when they are able to move into a new home. This is more loss than any child should ever have to experience, and the family is doing everything they can to support each other through this tragedy. If you can help financially, please do.
