Help Lara with CoCos emergency vet bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sang
Im starting this GFM to help my friend and fellow collective member, Lara Yeo aka Lara the Pet Nanny, raise vital funds for necessary vet bills her dog Coco needs to save his quality of life .
Boxing day was 3 yr old Cocos first day of symptoms. Lara spent the entire day in vet clinic in Nanaimo on Dec 27th where Coco
had Xrays that were sent to Radiologists, as well as blood tests that ended up showing Pancreatitis. When the clinic received his file from his Gabriola vet, they determined he possibly was either born with Ehrlichia (tick borne disease) or acquired it shortly after birth. Ticks are VERY prolific in his birth place Little Corn Island,Nicaragua .
Coco has been taking meds since boxing day and started antibiotics a few days later, after his
Pancreatitis diagnosis. He will be finished all meds tomorrow Jan 21.
His tail is still immobile and he struggles a little with pushing poop out. He runs funny and shows signs of pain in his back end, particularly the back left leg. The Neurologist said a CT and MRI are necessary. These procedures are extremely pricey. They are also timely to prevent possibly paralysis or spinal damage. Please see attached estimate.
Lara first adopted Coco May 3 2021 when he was 7 months old. They found each other from all the way across the world at 8 weeks. He flew for 17 hrs in a crate to Ontario.. spent the wknd with a lovely family and then spent another 10 hrs in a crate to get to Vancouver before finally making his way with Lara to Gabriola. Since then he is ever by her side - whether she is walking other dogs or prepping someone’s house for a move out.
Due to the housing crisis in BC, Lara has recently had to move from our little community where her whole world - private, social and professional has been based. As she had been self employed for years with her 2 businesses here, having to leave the community has greatly affected her income.
Lara needs our help as she has exhausted all other financial possibilities available to her. Our local pet charity is no longer running and Nanaimo doesn’t have anything that fits Cocos needs.
Please consider anything you can to help save Coco as saving Coco is also saving Lara. I pride myself on being an active contributing member of a community that is always there for each other when any of us are truly in need. Lara has been one of those giving people for years and now she needs us. Anything possibly raised above the final bills will be donated to others in need.
