Help Lara Attend the NYU Summer Publishing Institute

Hi there -- It's Lara! Some of you may know, but since my time spent teaching abroad in South Korea, the call toward children's literature and fiction for young audiences has grown ever louder, and it has become my goal to shift my career path into children's book publishing :)

To this end, I've decided to take the huge leap of going back to school, and was recently accepted into New York University's Summer Publishing Institute! NYU's Summer Publishing Institute (SPI) is a four-week intensive right here in the heart of the publishing world, combining workshops, strategy sessions, and presentations by leading figures in publishing, and culminating in a certification in publishing for books and media! While there, I'd be exposed to over 150 guest speakers, covering content creation, editing, marketing, sales, and digital aspects of the industry, while completing hands-on projects and engaging in dynamic networking events, allowing me to gain incomparable real-world experience.

I am so thrilled for this opportunity, but living and learning in New York is expensive! The tuition for the four-week intensive is $4,700, and as this program is full-time over the course of the four weeks, it would also require me to take the month off from work, placing further financial strain. While I continue to save money on my own and have submitted scholarship and financial aid applications for the program, I figured some of my friends and family might be interested in supporting me financially through my educational journey, as well :)
