My name is Lanier, for the past 16 years, I’ve worked as a lab assistant and now medical assistant, dedicating my life to helping others in my community. Whether in the lab or the clinic, my job has always been about caring for people—and I’ve always believed in paying kindness forward.

There have been many, many times when I didn’t have much, but I still found a way to donate to others’ GoFundMe campaigns because I understood how hard it can be to ask for help. Now, I’m in the position where I have no choice but to ask.

I was recently diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia, a rare blood cancer, and I will have to take at least a month off work for treatment and recovery. As a blue-collar worker living paycheck to paycheck, with no savings and no family to lean on, I don’t know how I will cover my basic living expenses—especially while also going through a divorce.

I am hoping to raise $7- $10,000 to cover income and bills.

One month of lost income ($3,200) so I can keep up with rent, utilities, and daily essentials

Medical expenses (co-pays, prescriptions, and unexpected costs)

A small cushion in case my recovery takes longer than expected
