Help Lane Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and community,

I'm writing this on behalf of my dear friend and fellow artist Lane Walkup, whose storage unit containing 12+ years of equipment, supplies, and artwork was washed away by the Swannanoa River during Hurricane Helene on September 27, 2024.

Lane recently moved to Asheville, NC to take a break from NYC after having to leave a mold-ridden home and losing lots of resources in the process. Asheville, NC was a chance to recover in nature and to be close to her family after being gone for almost 13 years.

The flooding happened so quickly, and was so much worse than predicted, that she wasn't able to save anything in time without putting herself at risk. We are hopeful that the storage unit's insurance will help with a portion of her costs, but even with the maximum amount of coverage, she's realized a large chunk of it will not be recouped. On top of the loss of her tools and artwork, she is faced with being displaced while still having to pay rent along with other costs of living.

Please consider donating to help Lane rebuild her practice after this devastating loss. No donation is too small, and every contribution will make a meaningful difference during this challenging time.

In true Lane fashion, she's asked me to pass along some other good options for donations including Beloved Asheville, Firestorm Books, and Pansy Collective.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
