Help Lane Barnett Battle Stage 4 Cancer

This is Kellie Taglioli, Kim's sister. I'm setting up a GoFundMe account to help cover medical and travel expenses for my brother-in-law, Lane Barnett. This isn't the first time the Barnett family has had to deal with significant medical issues and bills. Just trying to help alleviate some of the financial burden during this challenging time. We covet prayers and appreciate any and all support. The following is a message from my sister, Kimberly Barnett, with the current diagnosis and treatment plan . . . . .

Lane was diagnosed with colon cancer, after an emergency stay at Clear Lake Methodist Hospital the second week of December. His normal routine blood work showed he was extreme anemic and needed two blood transfusions to bring him out of a danger zone. A colonoscopy and endoscope showed a tumor in his large intestine.

Due to the holidays, his care was slower than we preferred, but also gave us a chance for a second opinion. A good friend helped us get us in fast within the MD Anderson system for a second opinion, so we are now going that route.

He is still receiving iron transfusions at Methodist. He has more energy than he has had in quite awhile.

Today we saw a surgical oncologist at MD Anderson. The cancer is stage 4. There is a 5cm tumor in his large intestine, close to the small intestine. There is also a 2cm nodule on his liver and smalls nodules in his lymph nodes near the intestines. One good thing is this.. his CEA levels are low, quite normal. (CEA test measures a blood protein that some cancers can increase.)

Please keep Lane, his care team, Judy and me in prayer. We have navigated through the medical world for many years, but CANCER is a whole new game. I'm in a run- hopeful we will beat everything thrown at us and trying to be as proactive as possible with keeping his health our priority.
