Help Landy Stay by Soren's ICU Side
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out on behalf of Landy and her son, Soren, who is currently fighting for his life in the ICU at the University Hospital in Denver.
On July 4th Soren was airlifted from Grand Junction to the Denver University hospital ICU unit after becoming critically ill with sepsis. Landy and Scott raced across the state to be with him. When they arrived at the hospital, they were told by the doctors that Soren wasn't expected to make it through the night. Landy assured them they didn't know Soren, and that he is a fighter. The doctors are amazed with his fight.
In the past week he has already undergone seven surgeries, with another one scheduled for Tuesday (7/15). He is on a ventilator, though they are actively weaning him off it. Hopefully they can remove it and he be able to breath on his own in the near future. When he arrived to the ICU he was in a coma, not medically induced. Each day he is gaining more alert and responsive. He is opening his eyes and squeezes hands to communicate. He now knows where he is and how he got there. He is also going through dialysis and possibly will be for the rest of his life. If all that wasn't enough on Saturday (7/12) the doctor informed Landy that he now has pneumonia. They are hoping that it is fluid in his lungs, said no doctor ever. The concern is that it is spreading infection.
While he has a medical team of about 10 specialist doctors who are all doing everything they can for the sickest patient they have seen survive these conditions, Soren’s road to recovery is long — doctors expect it may take a full year before he’s fully recovered to whatever degree that may be.
In the meantime, Landy is staying in Denver to be close to her son. She’s facing growing expenses for hotel accommodations, uber rides to and from the hospital, food, and basic living costs while she remains by Soren’s side to support him and his fight to live. Scott has been running on pure exhaustion as he has since returned to Grand Junction to continue working to support his family, and in Denver for his days off to be with his family during this time of uncertainty. As you can imagine, this situation has turned their lives upside down emotionally, physically, and financially.
We’re asking for your help to raise money to help support Landy and Scott during this emergency. Any contribution — no matter how small — will go directly toward her essential needs while she remains near the hospital.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Soren, Landy and Scott in your thoughts and prayers.
With gratitude,
Katy Levad, and the family.
