Help Landon Torres Get an Adaptive Minivan

Hola, me llamo Landon Torres. Tengo 13 años y padezco afecciones médicas que me obligan a usar una silla de ruedas. Les contaré un poco más sobre mí para que me conozcan mejor. Nací prematuro y pesé 1 libra y 13 onzas al nacer. A los 3 meses, sufrí un derrame cerebral que me causó dos afecciones: parálisis cerebral y epilepsia. La mitad de mi cerebro no funciona porque las neuronas que tenía murieron a causa del derrame. Por eso, no puedo hablar, caminar ni disfrutar de mi entorno como otros niños. Después de controlar mis convulsiones durante años, al llegar a la adolescencia volvieron, lo que me hizo perder la capacidad de dirigir lo que como al estómago. En cambio, comenzó a dirigirse a otras partes del cuerpo, como los pulmones. Por el riesgo de contraer infecciones y una situación que podría costarme la vida, me colocaron una sonda gástrica.

A pesar de todo lo que he pasado, soy muy positivo. Me gusta la música y reír con mi familia. Soy un niño muy fuerte que ha luchado toda su vida.

Debido a lo mucho que he crecido, no es fácil transportarme en un vehículo normal. Necesito con urgencia una minivan adaptada. Es un transporte muy caro y necesito de verdad tu ayuda para conseguirla. Agradecería mucho cualquier ayuda que puedas brindarme.

Hi, my name is Landon Torres. I am 13 years old and have medical conditions that put me in a wheelchair. Let me talk about myself a little more so you know me better. I was born prematurely and weighed 1 pound and 13 ounces at birth. When I was 3 months old, I had a stroke that caused me two medical conditions: cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Half of my brain does not work because the brain cells that were there died because of the stroke. Because of this, I am not able to talk, walk, or enjoy my surroundings as other kids do. After being able to have my seizures under control for years, when I became a teenager, they came back, causing me to lose the ability to direct what I eat to my stomach. Instead, it started to go to other places like my lungs. For the risk of getting infections and a situation that can cost my life, I had a G-tube placed.

Even going through all that I have been through, I am really positive. I like music and to laugh with my family. I am a really strong kid that has fought my whole life.

Because of how much I have grown, it is not that easy to transport me in a regular vehicle. I’m in desperate need of an adaptive minivan. It is really expensive transportation, and I really need your help to have it. I will really appreciate any kind of assistance that you can provide.
