At 2 months old, Landon James Hardy first started showing symptoms of seizures. After being dismissed by a pediatrician, Landon was taken to the Texas Children's ER due to having longer seizure episodes on March 24, 2021. Many tests, hospital stays, and unanswered questions later Landon was officially diagnosed with Early Infantile Epileptic Encephalopathy-65 (EIEE-65) on April 10, 2021.Early Infantile Epileptic Encephalopathy is a rare genetic mutation neurological disorder characterized by seizures. Landon's case gets more complicated; his specific mutation in strand 65 is even more rare. It is said by his neurologist that there are only 18 known cases in the world and each case has shown a poor prognosis. Landon is the youngest case. EIEE causes the patient to be drug resistant and have developmental delays (motor and cognitive).
There are not many answers or resources about EIEE-65, but what we do know is that there is a long and hard road ahead of us. Donations made will be used to help provide aid in medical/hospital bills, medicines that can cost up to $14,000, physical therapy, and other supplies this family needs to provide a better life for Landon.
Any and every donation is appreciated along with prayers for the Hardy family.
