Help Landen Preserve The Linda's Legacy

My name is Landen I’m the proud owner of the world’s most amazing 1984 Chevy G20 Conversion Van named “The Linda”! I’m doing quite a few costly repairs and maintenence and am looking for financial assistance to keep her running for future adventures.

In 2019 I became the new owner of this Beauty, after a farmer friend of mine was trying to sell something that he didn’t have time to drive. He had acquired it from a landlord (Linda…. where she gets her name) but title was never transferred into his name so technically I’m the 2nd owner.

When I first bought her, she has 33k miles on the original engine. For a 40 year old vehicle that is crazy! No rust, no real cosmetic flaws, no mechanical issues, etc. It was crazy how little wear this van had for its age. I bought it, after being encouraged by a few of my rugby buddies so we could have a vehicle big enough to travel to away matches and tournaments and be the talk of town as such events. So I did and never looked back!

Best purchase I’ve ever made! This van has been on so many awesome adventures, including by not limited to:
  • Travel to rugby matches
  • Numerous camping excursions
  • Bachelor party transportation
  • Wedding party transportation
  • Trips to Canada
  • Ski trip to the mountains
  • Rugby playoffs in IA & WI
  • Rugby Championships in Chicago
  • Spring rugby tournaments to St, Cloud, Otsego, Sioux City, and even one to New Orleans.
  • Borrowed out to multiple people who needed a loaner vehicle when their cars have broke down
  • Used as a sober ride for large groups on more occasions that I can count

The Linda has been around a lot, and she’s only has 65k on the odometer, so she has many years to go. I recently brought the Linda in for some maintenance and it turned out there were quite a few repairs needed to be done for safety, performance, and comfort. So I broke it down in 3 phases to cut down on immediate costs.

Phase 1 - Safety
The brakes needed to be inspected, serviced, and replaced. Parts and labor really added up, but this was a necessary repair as it was not negotiable. If we are driving it around, we need to make sure it’s safe to drive!

Phase 2 - Performance
The suspension is a bit loose, needs new shocks and struts. Also, the exhaust is pretty rusted out and should be fully replaced (most expensive). These repairs will help keep this thing running long term.

Phase 3 - Comfort (non-essential)
This is the phase that I don’t know will ever get done. The big one here is the AC. It’s never worked since I have owned it, so driving in the summer can be uncomfortable at times. To get the AC working I would need to fully convert the current obsolete system to a new system and this retro-fitting is not cheap. Therefore this is more of a pipe dream than anything.

All of this said, there have been a lot of people who have had the opportunity to utilize this beast of an automobile over the years, and I want to continue this for many years to come. I’m putting this go fund me out there to help alleviate the financial burden of keeping her going for future adventures. Please consider how many times you have ridden, borrowed, benefitted from having the van around and help me keep this wonderful machine running!
