Help Lance and Charlene Through This Medical Crisis

Hi, if you’re reading this, I am Brit Schaefer, and I am making this in hope that it will assist my brother Lance’s family to get through the difficult situation they’ve suddenly faced. Yesterday, 4/11, my sister-in-law Charlene started experiencing chest pains as they were en route to pick up their 3 children, 2 from the bus and the youngest from daycare. The pain increased exponentially as my brother was exiting the daycare, and he decided they were going to the ER. Her initial test results showed a possible heart attack, and they would need to be transferred to another hospital in Tupelo. There was not a whole lot of information given other than a possible heart attack. Within a couple of hours, Charlene was transferred to the NMMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Tupelo, and Lance proceeded to drive there. He went to the room number provided to him only to find it empty. He then was told that she was currently in the cath lab having a stent placed as she had experienced a heart attack with 100% blockage. She will have an ICU stay as she is recovering, and Lance is doing everything he can to make sure his wife and their children are safe and in good hands. No one expects a 36-year-old to experience a heart attack; it’s almost unheard of to have one with a 100% blockage. They are the proud parents of 3, 2 girls (Danica and Layla) and one rambunctious toddler boy (Lane). All 3 kids are currently in school/daycare as both Charlene and Lance have full-time jobs to support themselves. This medical emergency places an extreme hardship on them in the upcoming weeks as bills and necessities become relevant. The majority of Lance's family is at minimum a 9-10 hour drive away. Charlene does have some family nearby who are trying their best to help with the kids. They need our help, and I hope that this reaches those who can share and/or have the ability to donate so Lance may continue to be able to be there for his wife and children. Their current needs are travel-related as they only have full-size SUVs that Lance, as a full-time mechanic, is swapping parts between to try and get the best mileage and safe travels from. Their Tahoe has a 24-gallon capacity, and the prices from Hamilton to Tupelo place fuel costs at $67-70 roughly every 1-1.5 days of traveling the two-hour round trip to be with her, if not multiple trips in a day due to the kids and their needs.
Lance is my baby brother, a year younger but has always been my right hand even at the distance we’ve lived at for years now. He has helped me in so many ways, and I him. The distance between us makes this how I CAN help right this moment. Nine years ago, a good friend created a GoFundMe even as I was refusing financial help in a medical emergency that took my son's father. I’ve seen firsthand how this site can ease financial worries and allow people to be where their heart is and should be. I love you, Bub and Charlie, praying for you both and always here however you need me. Thank you if you’ve read this far. I have done everything in my power to protect my brother his entire life. A share and/or donation is greatly appreciated, and I hope life blesses you abundantly in return.
