Help Lanakila get a Truck to keep on the Pono work
Aloha kākou!
My name is Joshua Lanakila Mangauil, I was born and raised in the small sugar plantation town of Honoka'a on the Big island of Hawai'i. I grew up in the forested area of Ahualoa and spent much of my life also in Waipi‘o valley. I have been an educator in my community for many years. I have helped bring up a whole generation of my town with another level of connection to Hawaiian culture.
I am a strong advocate for the protection, and cultivation of Hawaiian Culture and the rights of indigenous peoples as directly connected to the rights, protection, and restoration of the environment.
It's with great humility that I reach out in this way to you, the greater community for assistance to help provide me a tool, to keep up my work and to only increase my ability to serve.
I have been a life long servant to my community, my environment, and to the perpetuation of Hawai'i's culture and heritage. But I am finding difficulty too often now, being limited without a proper vehicle.
The wide array of projects and service work I do can really be given a boost with a proper reliable vehicle. My poor car now takes such a beating and is limited on where and what I am able to do. So much Mahalo to those who support my work and lend me the use of their trucks when able.
From collecting food and distributing to those in need, hauling mulch and compost for farms and gardens, traveling off road to get to, and care for sacred sites or for ceremony. Im always moving, always of service, and will say, struggle at times not having a vehicle with the space or ability to jump right on the job.
I need a heavy duty pickup 4x4. A strong work truck able to go anywhere, with ample space to carry large and heavy loads, and that will be reliable, working well for a long time to come!
From Waipi'o valley, too Maunakea, from hauling rubbish from our beaches, to planting food in our community. Many of you know the work I do, and the many more things to come.
So I am asking for your kōkua, your help to support me secure the funds to get me a good reliable truck, to continue to serve Hawai'i.
Mahalo nui.
