Hi, my name is Lanae. I’m a working mom, a wife, and a proud fighter. I’ve spent my whole life pushing through challenges without asking for much help. But now, I’m facing something I can’t power through on my own.
Recently, I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus caused by a brain tumor (cyst), a condition that can lead to sudden death if left untreated. The neurosurgeon explained that I’ll need brain surgery to remove the cyst and relieve the pressure. If I delay treatment, the risks are unpredictable, and potentially fatal.
The surgery is scheduled for early September and will involve an intensive hospital stay, followed by several weeks of recovery. I’m holding it together emotionally, but financially… it’s overwhelming.
Despite having insurance, I was shocked to learn that:
• I’ll owe over $5,000 out-of-pocket before anesthesia or other hidden costs
• I don’t qualify for short-term disability due to a technicality, meaning I’ll be without income for up to 12 weeks
• I’ll still be responsible for caring for my family, even as I recover
I’m not the type to ask for help lightly. I’ve always been the one people count on. But right now, I need a little help so I can get through this without sacrificing the care I need or the well-being of my family.
Your support will help me:
• Cover the cost of surgery and hospital bills
• Make ends meet while I recover without paid time off
• Relieve the financial stress so I can focus on healing
Even $5 or $10 makes a difference. If you can’t give, sharing this means the world.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with me. I’m still hopeful. I believe in community. And I believe that with a little help, I’ll be alright
