Help Lana Walk Again: Support Her IVDD Recovery

Donation protected
Our sweet girl Lana was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) on Monday September 1 after we took her to the vet for visible pain. At first, it looked like a mild case and we were optimistic that medication and rest would help her recover over the next few weeks. Sadly, by Wednesday night she had lost all mobility in her back legs. On Thursday, we saw specialist’s at UC Davis Veterinary Medicine who determined her condition was already at a level 4 out of 5 and she needed emergency surgery to prevent permanent damage.

We are so grateful to have family who were able to lend us the money to get Lana the surgery she urgently needed. We couldn’t have done it without them. The procedure went well. She was hospitalized for a few days and now she’s home on strict crate rest. The amazing students and doctors at UC Davis Veterinary Medicine took such great care of her!

We always knew IVDD was a risk because of her breed, but we never thought this would become her reality. We did everything we could—ramps, no jumping, gentle play—but this still came out of nowhere. Just the day before she was happy, healthy, and running around with her brothers.

The doctors are hopeful that with time and rehabilitation, Lana will walk again—but recovery can take up to nine months. This will be a long process, with daily care, therapy, and a lot of love and patience. We are committed to helping her every single step of the way.

We are asking for help to pay back the $9,700 surgery and hospitalization cost. On top of this, we’ve already spent a significant amount on vet visits, diagnostics, and medications leading up to her surgery, and the expenses won’t stop here. Lana’s recovery will involve months of follow-up appointments, therapies, and supportive care at home. Any amount, big or small, would mean the world to us and to Lana. And if you’re not able to donate, your love, prayers, and good thoughts are equally appreciated as she begins her long road to recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our girl. ❤️
