Hi, my name is Lana and I’m struggling to pay the mortgage payments on the house that belonged to my late mom and dad. I am the youngest of four siblings and the only one who lives in and continues to pay the bills on the house that our dad built for our mom back in the 70’s.

In August of 2023, our parents, Darrel and Priscilla, were involved in a car accident that further affected Priscilla’s mobility as she was already suffering from rheumatoid arthritis among other ailments, including Hepatitis C she got from bad blood transfusions. Since the accident, she was in and out of different hospitals, unable to return to the home she loved. She ended up developing a bed sore which led to a severe bone infection. She passed in hospice care in May of 2024, surrounded by her family in her final moments.

After her passing, our dad was never the same. I was living in the house, helping him with bills, buying groceries, and just being there for him. We were all there for him, especially my sister, who actually worked with him at his business. Our dad was a diesel mechanic since 1960, and his shop was one of the oldest in Riverview. The business became his retirement plan; to sell it, pay off any debts he had, and reside in the home he built and both he and our mom loved. Unfortunately, that never came to be, as he sadly passed away in May of 2025, almost one year to the day as our mom.

Since he passed, the burden of selling the shop fell on us, namely my sister, as she was the executor of their will. The house became my responsibility because I’m the one who wanted to keep it. It’s as special to me as it was to my parents, and it’s an important part of my life. Before my mom went into hospice, while she was still able to speak, I remember her asking me if the house was okay. I promised her it was and that we were taking good care of it. Before my dad passed, he would often tell me what he planned to do once his business sold; fixing the house up and making it look as beautiful as it once did before. Because he knew that’s what mom would’ve wanted.

The only thing I truly want to do is to be able to save the home my dad built. I’m embarrassed to be here on GoFundMe, but I’ve exhausted all my options and I have nowhere else to go. Until my dad’s business sells and my siblings and I can have some financial peace, I’ve reached the end of my rope. I don’t want to lose the home that means so much to me and my family. I don’t want to lose that part of me that’s so special. I’m praying to God for a miracle. Any donation, no matter how small, will help.
